Aim of Assessment
The aim of the assessment is to assess the students ability to plan and evaluate the occupational therapy process including the use of advanced communication skills, within a wider context, using evidence based practice and critical reflection. The assessment will also require students to demonstrate their key skills in relation to communication and information technology.

Each student will select a client group from the list below and use this client group (or an individual they identify from within this client group) as the focus of their assignment.

In the 3,000 word assignment each student will be expected to outline and critically reflect upon the application of all elements of the occupational therapy process in relation to your chosen client group. Your assignment should also include the identification of an evidence base, which may include relevant legislation and policy, for an occupational therapist providing intervention with your chosen client group. The assignment should also link occupational therapy philosophy with your chosen client group and appraise the efficacy of occupational therapy involvement. You must also discuss and critically reflect upon the use of advanced communication skills within the application of the OT process.

Your client group will be an example of a client group without an initial health diagnosis as discussed within the Holistic Occupational Therapy module. Whilst researching your client group you may find that particular diagnoses may be prevalent within that group i.e. Depression, however this should NOT be the sole focus of your application of the OT process.
