Microeconomics

For this paper, you will be required to study an industry. You will start by finding an article that highlights an industry or a player/players in that industry. The article must be current – anything published after August 1, 2015. You are welcome to write about the same industry that you used for your market analysis paper, but this is not a requirement.
You will provide an analysis of the industry. What sort of market structure is exhibited (perfect competition, monopoly, oligopoly, monopolistic competition)? Discuss the characteristics that support your viewpoint, along with those that don’t. What are supply and demand conditions in general? What resources are used in production? What role does technology play in the industry? Who are the big players in the industry? How do government regulations affect the market? What are the international dimensions of this market? What does the future hold for the players in this market? You will need to include a discussion of the relevant terms and concepts. Note – you do not necessarily need to answer every single one of these questions. They are a starting point. Choose the ones that are appropriate for your industry.
You will need to include a graph, chart, or other visual element in your industry discussion. You do not need to make up your own graph or chart, but be certain to cite the source of any that you use from other sources. The final paper should be at least 2 pages typed, double-spaced, not including title page, graphs, tables, and bibliography. You should use outside sources to enhance your paper, not including the textbook which should be cited for definitions. Additional resources can be published before August 1. Graphs and tables must be referenced within the paper. This paper will be mostly a positive analysis, but you should also include a normative element, reflecting your viewpoint on some aspect of the industry.
