Read Hicks (2008) and pay particular attention to his international comparison (starting p. 25).
Go to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) site to look at the updated OECD Social Indicators atwww.oecd.org/els/societyataglance.htm
Identify at least one indicator that is discussed in Hicks (2008) and update the information to the 2011 data or 2014 (or subsequent) OECD data if it has been published.
3.2 Critical Reflection – Social Indicators: Canada in an International Context
Write 200–300 words considering one of the social indicators identified in Hicks (2008) and relate it to more contemporary data (2011), or (2014) if available. If a further report has been developed please use the most recent.
Identify how Canada compares to other countries (pay attention to UK, US, and Sweden). Provide some critical thinking about why you think Canada is where it is and attempt to provide a response within a social policy analysis.
