Overview:
In this essay, “write a review essay on any subject—a performance, a book, a website, a consumer
product,” policies, restaurants, college residential halls, vacation spots, a movie, an athlete, a
celebrity, a political figure, whatever. “The key is that you evaluate something that interests you but
also matter to someone else. Essentially, you will answer the questions: “How good is it? What is its
value?” Your basic motive is to make a judgment about something that you may or may not be familiar
with, and then, using reasonable criteria and evidence, convince others that your judgment is sensible.
Key aspects of this project include the following:
• Compose a thesis statement and development of paragraphs that show the readers there is something to
be said about the worth or value of something.
• Provide criteria for the judgment of something.
• Determine what category it belongs to. Decide what else it is like. Establish why it is better or
worse to something in the same category.
• The required length for all drafts is 4 pages, not including the Works Cited page.
• You must cite from at least two sources (print, online, interviews, documentaries, speech, etc.) in
your paper.
• You will document all ideas and words from your sources, using MLA documentation.
• Title: Titles are centered and written in 12-point, Times New Roman font. The title is not bolded,
