WC 100 is built on the foundation of utopias and four themes: spirituality, women’s issues, sustainability, and social justice. Much of your
life may be based on these themes, often not as a tangible element of your life but rather as an intangible element. You may know a great
deal about one or more of the themes. You may know nothing or very little.
Consider what you currently know about each the four themes. What is your spirituality? How do you define spirituality? What does it mean to
be spiritual? What does social justice mean to you? Do you support any social justice issues? What does it mean to you when we target women’s
issues? What does sustainability mean to you? Do you participate in some type of sustainability? What do you know about these areas? What
would you like to learn?
This is not a research-based essay. No textual evidence is required. It is a benchmark for us to learn about you and your knowledge base on
these topics. Be honest with yourself. Identify what you know and acknowledge what you do not know. This is a first step into critical
thinking.
Please write a 300- to 600-word essay that summarizes your knowledge of the four themes. Follow the formatting guidelines that have been
adopted for this course. The elements of an essay of this kind include an introduction paragraph with a thesis, four body paragraphs that
develop each theme coherently, and a conclusion paragraph that brings the essay to a close. Organization is important. Grammar and spelling
are important.
