the results could have an impact on crime prevention practice.

*Note about the meaning of the term ‘direct contribution’: the invention of the computer made a substantial contribution to our understanding

of the effectiveness of the TASER because performance of the required statistical tests involves using computers. However, this is a

tangential contribution (not a direct one) and therefore papers about the invention of the computer would not be considered within the scope

of the question.
