YOUTUBE AND TELEVISION DEBATE

| January 7, 2016

There are a number of issues you need to address to bring it up to standard. Firstly, you need to think more systematically about the

issues. YouTube Vs TV is a false opposition. Live TV is part of a huge media system of visual media which includes live sports and

Amazon and NetFlix catch up services. You Tube is also part of the system that includes the BBCiPLayer, 4OD and all the other video

services such as Vine, SnapChat and Vimeo. It would really help you, therefore, to try and define what the experts mean by the term

“television”. Secondly, you need to be much more sceptical about the arguments .There is a considerable volume of academic literature

about YouTube (see Google Scholar). Finally, you need to try and define how and why this is a contemporary debate issue. Why is this

change controversial or significant?

Try to avoid all unsupported observations and sweeping generalizations.

A key term to look at is conversions when platforms come together.
Talk on how what television is just a box or there is depth meaning into it, be very critical and write like a scholar. This is a 1st

class essay.

ANOTHER THING IS DO NOT USE THE WORD EVERYONE. THAT IS GENERALISING.

IT IS NOT A HISTORIC ESSAY , IT IS A CONTEMPORARY ESSAY , DONT USE OLD SOURCES ABOUT A NEW SUBJECT, IF YOU LOOK AT THE STATS WELL,

YOUTUBE IS ACTUALLY STRUGGLING.

FOR EXAMPLE BBC BRITISH BAKE OF GETS OVER 19MILLION VIEWS, SO YOUTUBE IS NOT DIEING.

IF TV WAS DIEING

WHY DOES FIFA AND OLYMPIC PAY SO MUCH TO SHOW THEIR CONTENTS.

AND TV IS NOT CHANGING OR DIEING, IT IS MORE MORPHING.

YOU CAN START OF MY EXPLAINING WHAT THE TERM TELEVISION IS . AND START YOUR ESSAY FROM THERE.

You will be assessed, using the following criteria:-

research findings to underpin the arguments in your essay;
2. The ability to deploy appropriate media theories to inform the arguments made in your essay;
3. The ability to produce an essay which demonstrates your own research into, and original critical analysis of a contemporary

practice/debate about the media;
