Background to transcripts

Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a therapy based on both cognitive and behavioural principles. CBT is thought to be an effective

treatment for a number of disorders. There are many different types of treatment options available to patients with research suggesting

effective treatment programs can incorporate many components.

The aim of the present study was to examine participants’ experience of CBT treatment. Three participants took part in the interview.

All three participants have been involved in CBT.

The transcripts are extracts from semi-structured interviews in which participants were asked a series of standard open-ended

questions, with further questions as necessary to elicit descriptions as necessary.

The three transcripts can be found as a separate document.
