You need to dissect the argument made by the author. First, diagram the argument (note the conclusion, and all the premises). This is

relatively simple: write down the conclusion (the single point the author wants you to believe at the end of the essay), and then write

down all the premises the author uses over the course of the essay to back the conclusion. This should end up looking like the

assignments you did last week: a list of sentences.

Secondly: discuss the logic of each of the premises, and whether they connect to the conclusion. In short, evaluate the internal and

external logic of an argument.
