The era of the 1950s and 1960s ushered in new priorities for the education of America’s students as well as the social, judicial,

political, and organizational structures of the nation’s schools. You will write a paper that analyzes challenges brought about by federal

and state interventions and how the educational system might address these challenges. You will also take the perspective of a researcher

and explain how knowledge of the history impacts any research you might undertake regarding the challenges you have identified.

General Requirements:

Use the following information to ensure successful completion of the assignment:

• Include two scholarly resources other than those in the assigned readings with references and in-text citations.

• Prepare this assignment according to the APA guidelines found in the APA Style Guide

Directions:

Write a 1,375 word paper in which you identify and discuss three current challenges in American K-12 education. In the paper, include the

following ideas:

1. An explanation of how each issue is addressed by federal and state government and what might change to better address each issue.

2. The impact of each issue on the education for children of poverty.

3. The potential contribution of technology to improve the issue.

4. The impact of social, economic, and cultural shifts in American society upon the challenges identified.

5. An explanation of the perspective a researcher will have on any research that may be undertaken surrounding the challenges identified.
