Equal Care for All

Read Chapters 7, 8, & 9 (files uploaded). Some of the “buzz words” in health care are disparity and access to care. You have been reading about the difference between ambulatory and long-term care and are beginning to review special populations including homeless, hospice, and elderly care. Consider the following: Access to care is disparate, or not equal, causing poor health consequences for many. In theory, all should have equal access always, but in practice, this has not been the case. Answer the following questions: 1. To what extent should everyone have guaranteed access to every test or procedure they want (not need)? 2. What discriminating factors would you use to differentiate wanted from needed access? Give 2 specific examples. 3. How would this change or affect care financially? Ethically? Legally? Systematically? Note: Do not write introduction & conclusion. You can research on the Internet or books/journals & you can add additional references.
