Analysing the articles/case studies available on Moodle, and given out in class:

1. evaluate the problems being faced in the restaurant and hospitality business in relation to tipping

2. suggest and analyse effective solutions for UK businesses to the workplace organisational behaviour issues being experienced in the

articles and cast studies

3. make recommendations to management by incorporating and applying relevant organisational and management theories to your suggested

solutions.

Guidance:

You will be expected to undertake additional reading to back up the points you make in your assignment. These should be included in

your summative reference list as well as in the text where used.

You will be expected to analyse and justify the solutions you suggest on what would be appropriate for organisations facing these

issues. Your suggestions and recommendations should be fully backed up by relevant research and theories as discussed in class

lecturers and from your own research.

You should fully referenced using the Harvard style and make reference to two appropriate academic models or theories.

Submissions
All work must be submitted (1 hard copy and 1 electronic copy on Bolton Moodle where a Turn-it Assignment has been set up). Work can

be submitted prior to final hand in date. Essay not available at this time will be considered late unless an extension has been

previously agreed due to extenuating circumstances.
Penalties for late submission of coursework are:
Students who fail to submit assessments by the specified date (without an extension being granted or without accepted Mitigating

Circumstances) will be subject to the following penalties:
• Up to 5 calendar days late = 10 marks subtracted but if the assignment would normally gain a pass mark, then the final mark to be no

lower than 40%.
• Up to 10 calendar days late = 20 marks subtracted but if the assignment would normally gain a pass mark, then the final mark to be no

lower than 40%.
• More than 10 calendar days late = 0 marks awarded.
Your work must be ORIGINAL – Presented in a way which differs from other Published Material and no cut and paste!
Secondary Research Level HE5 – It is expected that the Reference List will contain between ten and fifteen sources. As a MINIMUM the

Reference List should include two refereed academic journals and three academic books.

originality and creativity.

50 to 59% (IIii Class) Work of Good Quality
Some of the relevant information/skills accurately deployed. Adequate grasp of theoretical, conceptual, analytical and practical

elements. Fair integration of theory, practice and information in relation to the objectives of the assessment. Some evidence of

originality and creativity.

40 to 49% (III Class) Work of Satisfactory Quality
Some omissions in the deployment of information and skills. Some grasp of theoretical, conceptual, analytical and practical elements.

Limited integration of theory, practice and information in relation to the objectives of the assessment. Limited evidence of

originality and creativity.

< 40%​ (Fail)​Unsatisfactory Performance
Deficiencies or omissions in information, skills, theoretical, conceptual, practical elements. Limited integration of these in

relation to the assessed work’s objectives. Some relevant content and marginal evidence of skills, knowledge or creativity which

could, in the light of overall performance, constitute the basis for a pass grade in the examiners’ judgment.
